Do you know where the name KANGAROO comes from? I learnt it last week, on the TV.
When the English navigators discovered(1) Australia, they saw strange animals, jumping(2) instead of(3) walking (4).
The English asked the Aborigine(5), the first inhabitants of Australia :
- What are these animals? What's their name?
And the Aborigines answered : KANGAROO
But KANGAROO was NOT the animal's name... it simply meant(6) "I don't understand"(7) !
So, when you see a KANGAROO, you call it a "I don't understand".
